Essential Netball Kit Recommendations for beginner/returning players!

Joining a social netball league is all about having fun, staying safe, and feeling comfortable on court. While we provide basic kit each week, having your own gear can make life a lot easier—and let your team show off your own colours! Here’s our guide to essential kit and some budget-friendly options.

Bibs

We provide bibs in the kit bag each

week, but they can get a little… well, “well-loved” after multiple teams have worn them. Buying your own set is highly recommended, and it also means you can choose your team colours!

Good budget options:

Newitts Ziland Netball Bibs – We use size Large: Check them out here

Net Sports (Forza) Pro Netball Bibs – Medium is best (Large runs huge!): Check them out here

There are plenty of other options out there, but these are great value and widely used.

Trainers

Netball involves twisting, turning, jumping, and landing—so a supportive, non-slip trainer is a must. Look for shoes that provide good ankle support and cushioning.

Recommended brands:

Mizuno

Asics

You don’t need elite court shoes, but something designed for indoor or multi-court sports is best. Avoid running shoes—they’re built for straight-line movement, not lateral stability. Some good places to shop : Vinted is a great option if you're happy with pre-loved and they have some amazing bargains! Sports Direct M&M Direct

Gloves

If you have long nails or just want extra grip, lightweight gloves can help protect your fingers and improve handling.

Search terms to try: Sports breathable grip gloves

Good options can be found on Amazon, Shein, Temu, or other online retailers. Look for breathable, lightweight, non-slip gloves—they’re not for warmth, just protection and control.

Socks

Supportive socks with grip or ankle support can make a big difference, especially if you’re twisting and pivoting on court.

Options we like:

Extras for Comfort and Safety

Even for a social league, a few small extras can make your experience more enjoyable:

Water bottle: Stay hydrated during games.

Hair ties/headbands: Keep hair out of your face.

Knee/elbow support: Optional, but helpful if you’ve had previous injuries.

Tape/ankle wrap: For extra stability if needed.

Focus on comfort, grip, and safety. You don’t need elite gear—just bibs you like, supportive trainers, breathable socks, and optional gloves for grip or nail protection. Investing a little in your own kit will make games more fun and give your team a sense of identity on court!
